La Mare Wine Estate was established in 1972 by Robert and Ann Blayney and has been run since 1997 by Trevor and Jane Owen, with managing director Tim Crowley in charge of day-to-day operations since 1998. The estate is built around an 18th-century Jersey farmhouse in St Mary, set among gardens, meadows and vineyards on Jersey's north coast, and it has grown into one of the island's best-known working farms, combining a vineyard, winery, cider orchards and a distillery on one site. Visitors can join a guided tour and tasting experience, running several times a day, which takes in the vineyard, the winery and the Cognac distillery before finishing with a Grape-to-Glass show and tastings of La Mare's own wines, cider, chocolate, fudge and Jersey Black Butter. The estate also runs a Vineyard Café serving breakfast, lunch and homemade cakes, an estate shop stocked with its own produce, and hosts weddings and private events year round in its function rooms and gardens.
