Les Fontaines Tavern
17th-century pub in St John, known locally as "The Northern Office", serving traditional pub food and real ales; part of the Randalls pub group.

Les Fontaines Tavern has stood on Jersey's north coast since the 17th century, when its granite walls and oak beams first sheltered travellers as a farmhouse before growing into a proper gathering place. Locals simply call it The Northern Office, a nickname that says everything about its role in the St John community: it's where deals get done over a pint, where celebrations unfold, and where regulars become family over generations. The tavern is part of the Randalls group, which has been pouring drinks across Jersey since 1823 and now runs 21 venues on the island. The kitchen sticks to proper pub food done well: a famous rack of ribs, golden battered fish, hearty pies and a Sunday roast that draws families back week after week, alongside real ales rotating through the hand pumps. The setting does a lot of the work itself, with oak beams and granite walls throughout, a mezzanine gallery for private groups, and an indoor play area so families aren't banished to a back room. Outside, the south-facing terrace and garden catch the sun from morning to evening, with the north coast stretching out below and France visible on clear days. Les Fontaines shares its gift voucher scheme with the rest of the Randalls group, including its sister pub The Admiral in St Helier. Buying through picked.je takes you straight to Randalls' own gift card page, where you choose an amount, add a personal message, and the card can be spent at Les Fontaines or any of the group's 21 venues across Jersey, valid for a year from purchase.
