Unur
Jersey-founded, sister-run brand pairing 100% Mongolian cashmere knitwear with contemporary pearl jewellery, sold from their Queen Street boutique.
Unur was founded by sisters Jackie and Ugii - one based in Jersey, the other in Ulaanbaatar - who set out to build a direct line between the Mongolian steppe, where their family's cashmere and yak wool is herded, and the Channel Islands they now call home. The name itself, meaning "abundance" and "a large, close family" in Mongolian, is a nod to that sister-run, no-middlemen way of doing things. The collection runs from ponchos, wraps, jumpers and long coats to homewear throws and blankets, all in 100% natural cashmere or yak wool with no synthetic blends, alongside a range of contemporary pearl jewellery - rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Sourcing straight from Mongolian herding families keeps prices typically 30-50% below heritage cashmere houses. The boutique is on Queen Street in the heart of St Helier, open Monday to Saturday, with the full range also available online. A picked.je voucher gives someone the chance to pick their own cashmere piece or find a pearl gift that actually suits them - redeemable online at unur.co.uk or in person at 33 Queen Street, St Helier.
